Shenandoah FFA in Full Swing

Middletown- Shenandoah FFA is full swing with the upcoming National FFA Convention later this month, Food for America Week, District IX Kickoff, and even the annual FFA holiday fruit sales. Shenandoah FFA is excited to let the community know all about this month’s activities. District IX Kickoff took place a Wednesday October 10, 2012 at Knightstown high school. Students for Shenandoah FFA attended a night of fun, games, and quick a session held by the District IX and the Indiana FFA Association officer teams. Food for America week will be taking place October 15-20. Our chapter will be hosting a variety for fun-filled activities for Shenandoah Elementary school during this week including a canned food drive and Young McDonald’s farm. Young McDonald’s Farm is an education experience in which elementary students learn about animals and food production. Shenandoah FFA would also like to announce that the annual chapter fruit sales have begun. If you are interested in making a purchase this year please contact a chapter member. Funds collected from this fundraiser will go to many of Shenandoah’s nationally known community service events such as Snug Harbor Prom for the mentally disabled. Shenandoah FFA would like to thank the community for the outstanding work in supporting our chapter and events. On October 6, 2012 fourteen FFA members travelled to the Indiana FFA Leadership Center in Trafalgar, IN for the annual SOAR (Seeking Opportunities Achieving Results) camp. During this camp member’s engaged in an interactive learning experience that consist of setting SMART goals, becoming a leader in their community, learning about SAEs (Supervised Agricultural Experiences), and CDEs (Career Development Events). The camp came to a close on Sunday with a general attendance of 210 members from around the state of Indiana.
